This is one of the easier ways to get to Fletcher's. It works very well if you are coming from the Tyson's Corner area.

  1. Take Eastbound I-66 to Exit 73 (Key Bridge). This will put you on Lee Hwy.
  2. After about a half mile, make a LEFT onto N Lynn Street (3rd Light), and cross over the Key Bridge.
  3. At the far end of Key Bridge, make a LEFT onto Canal Rd (M St). Note that the C&O Canal and Towpath are on your left.
  4. Go about a half mile (passing Georgetown University), and then bear LEFT!! at the 3rd traffic light to remain on Canal Road (just keep following the canal, don't go up the hill).
  5. Fletcher's Boathouse is about 1.5 miles on the LEFT. It is the first white brick building. Bear LEFT here into the driveway.

Parking is available on both the east and west side of the canal. If the east side is full, you can reach the larger west side lot using the auto tunnel, which carries you under the canal.

!! NOTE: These directions do not work during weekday morning rush hour (5:30am - 10 am). During this time, Canal Road is One-Way heading into town during the morning rush hour.

FYI: The nearest Metro Station is Rosslyn. This is located near Key Bridge on the Virginia side of the river. Simply bike over the bridge and then follow the C&O Towpath or Capital Crescent Trail to the boathouse.
