The section south of Randolph Road passes by several parks and soccer fields. At Garrett Park, the trail begins to parallel Beach Drive. For many hard core cyclists, Beach Drive is a favorite training route. If you don't mind riding in the road, Beach Drive is a nice alternative to the narrow winding path.
There are two Metro Stations near this section. The Grosvenor station is the most convenient to the trail. NIH is also easily accessed by using Cedar Lane to cross under the Beltway.
Use extra caution at the Wexford Drive and Knowles Avenue intersections.
